COVID-19 measures

From the Rural Tourism Girona – Costa Brava – Pyrenees Association (Rural Tourism Girona) we advise and support the owners and managers of the 240+ associated rural houses so they meet all the Covid-19 hygiene and safety measures.

With the aim of protecting everyone involved with the rural houses: guests, workers, owners and suppliers, you will find details below on the actions that our houses carry out so that your stay is as safe as possible. Bear in mind that during the stays there are maintenance staff, such as gardeners, pool maintenance staff, general maintenance workers, and cleaning staff who have to keep working but who do so with the necessary precautions so you stay protected.

Covid-19 safety measures

Given the different types of accommodation of our members, these measures must be divided into two blocks:

Independent rural houses

  • Maintain a safe distance of 2 m.
  • Wear a face mask.
  • Use the provided hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • If the house has a dishwasher, it must be used. Otherwise, dishes must be washed in very hot water.
  • Waste paper baskets will be emptied every day.
  • Rooms must be ventilated regularly.
  • Credit card payment is preferred.

Rural houses with room rentals

  • Maintain a safe distance of 2 m.
  • Wear a face mask.
  • Use the provided hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Food will be served at the table during mealtimes.
  • The dining room tables will be cleaned and disinfected for each meal.
  • Waste paper baskets will be emptied every day.
  • Rooms must be ventilated regularly.
  • Credit card payment is preferred.

Regarding the cleaning and disinfecting of the houses, the owners of our rural accommodation apply the Protocol set out by the Health Department of the Spanish Government. Some of the most relevant points are detailed below:

  • All sheets and towels are washed at a minimum 60ºC, totally destroying the virus.
  • While cleaning and preparing the houses, all personnel involved wear protective face masks at all times and wash their hands before, during and after cleaning.
  • Sets of keys are disinfected for each stay.
  • All the swimming pools use chlorine or salt electrolysis.

Covid-19 symptoms

If during your stay any of you have symptoms, it is very important you contact the rural house owners so they can monitor the situation and take the most suitable measures. If you have symptoms before your stay, we ask you not to travel for your own safety, as well as that of the rural house owners and staff.

Medical care

If during your stay you need medical care that does not require immediate attention, you can call 061 to avoid unnecessary movement and waiting times.

If you have a medical emergency, you can call 061 and a doctor, ambulance or air ambulance will be sent out. If urgent medical care is required, call 112 (24-hour service).
